During Thanksgiving
break, my father and I stayed in the W Hotel in Boston, MA. The hotel is
located in downtown Boston, close to Boylston and Newbury Street, the major
avenues in town. Whilst initially looking for a hotel, several friends
recommended this specific one due to its convenience and proximity to many city
landmarks.
Overall, the stay
was very enjoyable. The staff was friendly and professional, and helped us
several times making reservations for various restaurants and with general
questions we may have had.
However, there
were two instances that really stood out as being troublesome. The first
instance occurred on a Friday night. The W Hotel is not famous only for its
younger atmosphere but also its lounge. Many city residents who do not reside
within hotel facilities come and enjoy drinks with friends and partners. As we
were returning from dinner, my father and I were about to enter the hotel when
we were abruptly interrupted by one of the hotel security members who
firmly stood in front of us blocking our path, saying this entrance was for guests
only and to proceed to an auxiliary door. After informing him that we were in
fact guests of the hotel and not coming for drinks, he simply opened the door
without apologizing. While this instance was not traumatizing in itself and did
not affect our overall stay, the doorman was extremely rude and was not
behaving up to the W standards.
The second
incident occurred on Saturday. After walking through the town under intense
rain, we proceeded to return to our hotel rooms, which had not yet been cleaned
at 5pm. We had to go request one of the cleaning staff members to organize our
room. Again, this incident did not affect our overall stay but was a nuisance,
as we were looking towards made beds and clean towels.
