I had the opportunity to volunteer and coordinate the planning of my fraternity’s banquet. Every semester, after new pledges are initiated into the fraternity, we hold a banquet. My job consisted of finding a venue and finding catering services. We were unable to coordinate the event with the first vendor as our budget didn’t meet the vendor’s minimum standards. After much research of alternative vendors, we finally found someone willing to work within our budget. The event finally took place on December 5th at venue in Georgetown. Before the event, I inspected the place to make sure to meet our requirements. Once the event started, I had to monitor the event activities to ensure the brothers and their guests were satisfied. The event lasted 3 hours and I was one of the last people to leave. I believe the event was a success as the feedback from the brothers and their guests was positive. Everyone seemed enjoyed to themselves. I’m definitely looking forward to become involved in next year’s banquet.
