Last night after work, my sister and I decided to try out the Naples
Ristorante e Pizzeria restaurant in the Bethesda Westfield food court. I had eaten here before, and did not
think the restaurant was too good, but have always been a firm believer that
any food establishment deserves at least 2 tries before being written off. We
entered an almost empty establishment around 8:45pm, and were informed that the
kitchen was closing at 9:00pm. We were seated at a roomy booth table, and did
not have to wait long for a waiter to come and take our order. He introduced himself,
served us water, and asked if we had any questions—providing recommendations
from the menu when asked. Between the two of us, my sister and I shared 2
appetizer plates (the Verdure and Pizza Duomo) and the Zeppole di Caterina
dessert. The food came in pretty decent portions, and we were most impressed by
the Pizza Duomo—a “build your own” pizza concept served with a large naan-type
bread, hand-shaved prosciutto, ricotta cheese, and roasted peppers. The dessert
was delicious and served with our appetizers.
The interior of the restaurant itself is beautifully
decorated. Compared to the other fast-food location in the food court, Naples
provides a nice change with its modern art pieces and spacious floor layout.
However, I am not too sure if I will return due to the expensive price of the
dishes compared to food taste and service (around $38 with tip). We were the
only table left in the restaurant, and still had to draw attention in order to
get refills on water. The restaurant also has well-maintained and convenient
bathrooms located inside. The dinner prix-fixe menu and “Brunch with Santa”
concepts are both interesting ideas to revisit! Overall, I am glad I gave this
place a second try, but am hesitant to return unless it is a special occasion.
