This semester I was able to attend a wedding in
Virginia. I am choosing this to reflect
upon because I am interested in events and event management and this was an
extremely elaborate wedding. There were
lots of different moving pieces that had to be perfect including multiple
vendors and caterers. Being in charge of
coordinating everything must have been a nightmare, and I am sure that there
were mistakes and things going wrong, although it looked flawless from the view
of everyone attending. With events I
think that the venue is just as important as the actual event and with the
house that the wedding was at everything was able to have its own space. I can only imagine the kind of money that
went into everything but it did show. I
think that running an event would be something that I would be good at from
booking to actual operations of coordinating on site. Over the summer I was exposed to some of this
“event life” as it was part of my internship.
It was interesting to see how much work goes into the production of one event and that has to be repeated for the next event.-Adam
