Class Reflection - 3 Learnings

The hospitality management class allowed me to learn many new things about the hospitality industry. I found all of the cases that we studied this semester help me broaden my knowledge and give me opportunity to have a deeper understanding of the hotel management. Same as the lectures, I learned many key concepts of hospitality management.

#1 Learning: Customer Relationship Management is one the most meaningful key concept I learned from this class. I have realized how important it is for hotels to keep good relationships with customers, its the main drive for repeat/loyal customers and potential profit. And from my perspective, as an event planner, it is the same to maintain happy customers, so managers/event planners need to put CRM as a top priority in management.

#2 Learning: Informational Interview is a great way for me to explore in the industry I am interested in joining for career. And I found it very helpful because I got to connect with professionals and learn many good insights and experiences from them. It was a great learning experience for me.

#3 Learning: Guest lectures were very interesting and helpful. I always like having professionals coming into class to share their experiences and ideas. I loved Ms. Press from Marriott, she introduced us ways of self-development on career paths by talking about her stories of working experiences. Her speech was very inspiring too. I think these guest speakers are great help for us to figure out our own career development in the industry.
