Blog #4
One thing that I have taken away
from this course is that while shaping a career in the hospitality field there
is no direct path or way to the top.
Everyone should be flexible to move location and change their role in
order to fit a new property. This will
help because every property has a different atmosphere, size, and need. Another thing that I have learned through the
speakers that came to speak and through my interview is that there are always
going to be mistakes and accidents at hotels and that someone has to take
control of the situation. If someone
plans on working in a management position they should be ready to take on that responsibility
whatever the situation is. Lastly I
think that some of the cases showed me the higher level problems that hotels as
brands run into and how they deal with these problems. I found this very interesting because there
is not necessarily a correct way to handle it although something has to be done
and that is where creativity and decisiveness meet. The only way to succeed is to be the hardest
working one in the room. -Adam
